Fondazione Made in Cloister has launched the second edition of the biennial project Interaction Napoli, on exhibit until Nov. 9 th, 2024. Thirty international artists of different generations have been invited to create site-specific canvases, sculptures and installations in the evocative 16th-century cloister, home of the Foundation.
The focus is to establish a dialogue with the space and actively engage the Porta Capuana community by exploring, through the artists' vision, the concept of diversity and promoting communication and exchange between different cultural and artistic perspectives. The Offsites are the newest addition to this second edition: three installations spread throughout the area, offering an extended experience beyond the perimeters of the cloister and inviting people to explore Porta Capuana, an historically and culturally dense area.
We are inclined to remove painful situations that do not affect us closely, a psychological self-defense mechanism that underlies many unresolved problems in the world, as they involve the Other and not us.
What can art do in the face of all this? Art sheds salt on the wounds so that we can continue to feel how much pain there is around us. Thus a poetic reflection on an existential or dramatic theme becomes an attempt to overcome a situation deemed unacceptable.
the Other and the Otherness - the Artists.
