CLOISTER BAR
The history of Refettorio
The 16th-century refectory of the monumental complex of Santa Caterina a Formiello has gone through many transformations over the centuries. Originally intended for the monastic community, it experienced a long period of neglect after the factory was abandoned, during which the spaces were spontaneously adapted for various uses.
Today, Refettorio has found a new life within Fondazione Made in Cloister. Its historical architecture coexists with contemporary design, creating an environment dedicated to food & drink and leisure time. New York designer Chris Rucker was asked to reinterpret the space and design the furniture, which was then made by Neapolitan craftsmen, including carpenters and marble workers. The three Cenacolo tables were expressly designed by Maestro Mimmo Paladino, creating a dialogue between art, design and historical memory.
