Lab.oratorio

LAB.oratorio is a multifunctional space that enriches the cultural program of Made in Cloister: a ‘project space’ dedicated to research, experimentation and exhibition of the young art scene, but also a venue for meetings, screenings and theatre.

Lab.oratorio is on the first floor of the Foundation: a gallery that historically connected the two wings of the monumental complex of Santa Caterina a Formiello. After an initial phase in which the space - left in the state of neglect in which it was found - hosted various workshop and exhibition projects, it is restarting thanks to careful restoration, recovering another place in the ancient monumental complex.

The mission of Fondazione Made in Cloister - which since 2016 has been involved in the enhancement of cultural heritage through the involvement of local citizenship for the realisation of a model of sustainable development - is enriched with the opening of Lab.oratorio, which due to its particular architectural conformation, a place of transit and passage, lends itself to being a multidisciplinary space.

"Lab", therefore, as a place dedicated to experimental making and “oratorio” as a space for dialogue and confrontation, theoretical study and intergenerational exchange; the dual vocation defines its hybrid identity built through strongly practical and theoretical moments, creative forge and exhibition venue.
