Made in Cloister

Established in Naples in 2012, Made in Cloister is a private cultural foundation born from the passion and dedication of Davide de Blasio and Rosa Alba Impronta, a dynamic entrepreneurial couple driven by a sincere love for their city and a profound sense of responsibility toward its well-being. Guided by the belief that culture is a potent catalyst for social renewal and urban regeneration, they envisioned Made in Cloister as a long-term commitment to local communities and a space where cultural production is the beating heart of all activities.

Mission

Made in Cloister is dedicated to cultivating a shared sense of interdependence and embeddedness within the local context. Embracing an ethos of epistemic equality, Made in Cloister injects criticality into the way we navigate the world and spurs awareness of the present through learning initiatives, residencies, artistic commissions, and community programs.

The Foundation's mission is developed on three levels:

Recovery and reconversion of the artistic heritage for a development consistent with the vocation of the territory;
relaunch of craftsmanship through interaction between master craftsmen and artists
urban regeneration through the social impact of a cultural project;

Project

The restoration of the 16th-century cloister of the Church of Santa Caterina a Formiello - a rare example of Neapolitan Renaissance and 19th-century industrial archaeology - marked the beginning of the project, saving the space from a state of neglect, recovering it and returning it to the community, respecting its identity. The history of the place and its vocation have contributed to defining the conversion project: a cultural hub where exhibition projects and inclusive cultural activities can be realised, capable of activating and favouring the sustainable development of the area. Particular emphasis is placed on the revival of the great craft traditions through a process of mapping and continuous collaborations between craftsmen and the international artistic community.
