Andrea Viliani is an Italian art historian and curator, currently serving as Director of the Museo delle Civiltà in Rome, a position he has held since January 2022. Under his leadership, the museum has embarked on a process of reinstallation and renewal, aiming to integrate its diverse collections through an interdisciplinary approach and to shape a contemporary anthropological museum.

Before taking on the directorship at the Museo delle Civiltà, Viliani held prominent roles in major Italian cultural institutions. From 2013 to 2019, he was General and Artistic Director of the Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts/MADRE Museum in Naples, where he curated exhibitions of internationally renowned artists. Between 2009 and 2012, he served as Director of the Galleria Civica Foundation–Center for Research on the Contemporary in Trento. He also worked as a curator at MAMbo–Museum of Modern Art in Bologna and at the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, where he also led and curated the CRRI–Research Center.

In 2020, Viliani co-curated Pompeii Commitment. Materie archeologiche, the first project of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii dedicated to contemporary art. He is the author of numerous essays and scholarly publications and regularly contributes to journals specializing in contemporary art.
