LAURIE ANDERSON

THE WITHNESS OF THE BODY

On May 28th Made in Cloister presented The Withness of the Body, a major exhibition of the American artist Laurie Anderson, curated by the multi-faceted artist and produced by the TramontanoArte Foundation.

"Painting is like improvising in music. Performing these great gestures on the canvas makes me feel like I play the violin. " In this declaration by Laurie there is all the essence of his relationship with painting and with art.

The exhibition brings together over 30 works by the artist, never exhibited in Italy, and appears as the natural extension of his research on the themes of life, loss and consistency and inconsistency of the body, taking up the thread traced in recent works.

Six present works are site specific, realized by Laurie Anderson in the cloister during the preparation of the exhibition, and others have been translated into Italian by the artist during this exhibition.

The Withness of the Body is a side event of the 21st Triennial of Design in Milan, received the "matronate" of the Donnaregina Museum of Art - MADRE and the patronage of the Consulate General of the United States of America for Southern Italy.
