Il potere segreto del vulcano.

Fondazione Made in Cloister presents ‘Il potere segreto del vulcano’, Henrik Placht's solo exhibition that opens on 18 January 2025 from 11.00 to 19.00 in the LAB.oratorio space and marks the conclusion of the Interaction Napoli 2024 programme.

The Norwegian artist was a guest of Fondazione Made in Cloister in Naples during 2024, for a residency as part of Interaction Napoli, the biennial Made in Cloister project that investigated, for its second edition, the theme of the Other and the Otherness, inviting 30 international artists to develop a dialogue between contemporary art, territory and community. Placht explored the cultural, social and environmental connections that characterise the urban context of the city, actively participating in workshops organised with students from the LAN - Liceo Artistico di Napoli.

Opening January 18th 2025
from 11 am to 7 pm

The exhibition "Il potere segreto del vulcano" stems from Placht's residency in Sicily, near Linguaglossa, a small town on the slopes of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano of the Eurasian plate. His research led the artist to develop a parallelism between Naples and the Sicilian city, investigating the landscapes, their elements, and the two communities inextricably linked to the presence of volcanoes. Etna and Vesuvius - one active, the other quiescent - represent natural forces that shape not only the landscape, but also the traditions, culture and daily life of the local populations.
